Care is collaborative, practical, and tailored to each stage of development.
Getting started
Yes. Dr. Wald sees children, adolescents, college students, young adults, and their families. Her approach shifts with each stage, from play-based work with younger children to collaborative, insight-focused sessions with older clients.
A relaxed conversation, not a test. For younger children, parents usually attend so Dr. Wald can hear your concerns and history together. With adolescents and young adults, it often begins one on one. You will talk through what brought you in and what you are hoping for, then leave with a clear plan and a sense of whether the fit is right. No pressure to commit beyond that.
It depends on your child's age and goals. With younger children, parents are closely involved and often join part of each session, since the changes that matter most happen at home. With adolescents and young adults, individual sessions stay private to protect trust, while Dr. Wald checks in with parents at agreed points and honors your child's confidentiality. Expectations are set together at the start, so everyone knows what to expect.
There is no fixed timeline. Some families come for a focused stretch of roughly eight to twelve sessions around a specific concern; others stay longer for deeper support. Dr. Wald reviews progress with you regularly, so you always know how things are going and when it may be time to step back.
Fees, insurance & logistics
Both. In-person sessions are held at the Coral Gables office, and secure video sessions are available for families who prefer to meet from home. Through PSYPACT authorization, Dr. Wald can provide telehealth to clients in more than 40 participating states, which helps college students and families who travel or split time between homes.
Wald Behavioral Health is an out-of-network practice and does not bill insurance directly. After each session you receive a detailed superbill to submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and sessions are eligible for HSA and FSA payment. Fees are discussed during your consultation call, and Dr. Wald is glad to help you check your out-of-network benefits before you begin.
Dr. Wald asks for at least 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel. Because your appointment time is reserved just for you, sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are charged the full fee. Life happens, so reach out as early as you can and she will try to find another time that works.
The office is at 1390 S Dixie Hwy, Suite 1305, in Coral Gables, on US-1 near the University of Miami, with nearby parking. It is easy to reach from Coconut Grove, Pinecrest, and greater Miami. Full directions and parking notes come with your appointment confirmation.
For parents
You will know what to expect, how confidentiality works, and how to support progress at home.
Dr. Wald keeps you informed at every stage, so the work in session and the encouragement you offer between visits point in the same direction.
